You’ve heard about ¹Kangen Water™. But you haven’t heard this…
Are you thinking of spending over $4000 for a Kangen Water™ Machine (or Miracle Water Machine, as they’re sometimes called) from the ¹Enagic™ company?
DON’T DO IT.
Here’s what I know…
There Really Is a Major ‘Kangen Water™’ Rip-Off Going On.
Now, What Do I Mean By The Words Scam and Rip-Off?
When I say rip-off or scam, I mean that Kangen Water™ Machines are EXTREMELY OVER-PRICED to their competitors. I consider them to be over-priced because they’re nothing more than water ionizers, and numerous competitors sell water ionizers that have been tested to perform similarly to the Kangen Water™ Machines, but at less than half the price! Enagic™ has a commission structure which raises the cost of each machine significantly, and some salesmen claim to be making thousands and thousands of dollars on passive commissions alone, while hardly doing any work!
Don’t worry, I’ll explain everything. But FIRST you should know something else…
Right now you can buy a machine that produces at least as effective results (and that I personally believe is more user-friendly) for less than 1/2 the price of a “Kangen Water™” machine produced by the Enagic™ company, the leading seller of Water Ionizers in America.
Don’t worry, I’ll explain everything by the end of this article.
But first…
Why Do I Care?
Good question. I’m in perfect health, but I first heard of “Kangen Water™” from my parents.
My parents started drinking “Kangen” and felt the positive health benefits immediately. They were buying their ionized water by the gallon from one of these Enagic™ dealers when they let me know that they were looking into purchasing a machine through him.
They told me all about how their arthritis had practically disappeared, how it was a joy to wake up in the morning with extra energy, etc.
They told me that in the past year, this man had earned over $100,000 from “Kangen Water™” commissions alone - his side business!
Good business, huh? You bet.
Obviously, I was thrilled that my parents were feeling positive health benefits. But before they attended a Kangen information session and invested something like $4000 in a machine, I wanted to make sure they were getting a fair deal.
So, I Did Some Research For My Parents…
And I found some VERY interesting information online.
It’s out there for those who snoop around, but easily clouded by the overwhelming amounts of pro-Kangen web sites which are produced by these “Kangen” Dealers who are just out looking for a profit.
After sifting through a whole ton of Marketing and BS, I finally found a few sources of quality information.
And I came to the conclusion… that Kangen Dealers are ripping people off.
Wanna know how? Let’s start with a little history…
What is “Kangen Water™?”
“Kangen Water™” has been recently popularized in the USA by the company Enagic™. The word Kangen means “Return to Origin” in Japanese, and it’s just a marketing term. “Kangen Water™” is actually a registered trademark of the Enagic™ Corporation as of August 2005.
The common name for a “Kangen Water™” machine is “Water Ionizer.”
I suppose that doesn’t sound as alluring as the word Kangen. So they made a new name for it, but don’t be fooled. “Kangen Water™” is electrolyzed water, commonly referred to as “Ionized Water.” There are many companies competing to produce the best Water Ionizer, and Enagic™ is only one of them.
More About Enagic™…
Obviously, Enagic™ is very good at marketing. In fact, they are a “Multi-Level Marketing” company, which is quite similar to a Pyramid Scheme.
Don’t believe me? Here’s a screen shot of one of their sales pages that I found from a distributor online. It’s a diagram of their commission structure:
Looks like a pyramid to me, eh?
What you have to realize is that with their 8-point commission structure comes a nasty price markup.. Like, possibly over $2000 in straight commissions for every machine sold at retail price. Yeah, nasty.
You see, if Jane sells a machine to Tom, and then Tom sells a machine to Joan, then Joan sells a machine to poor old Margaret… what happens is, Jane, Tom AND Joan could all earn a few hundred dollars EACH off the machine that Margaret buys. And that’s only with 3 steps… Enagic™ has 8 STEPS!
It’s an insane markup. Ridiculous. Crazy. A Ripoff!
So What Can We Do About It??
Well, start by warning your friends. That’s the reason I made this site.
The last thing you want to do is see your friends lining the pockets of these “Kangen Water™” Dealers…
Tell everybody you know!
“But I Still Want a Water Ionizer…”
Of course you do! And you should! They work amazingly well!
That’s why people are actually WILLING to spend $4000 on a machine, and they don’t complain. Because these machines are truly worth even MORE…
But the best part is this…
Get ready for it…
You can get a better water ionizer than the one Enagic™ is selling, and it only costs $1695.
Seriously.
It’s called the KYK Genesis Water Ionizer.
No creative multi-level-marketing scheme, no pyramids… Just a machine that works, selling at a competitive price like all the other regular products out there.
It’s the one I bought. The one I’ll be writing about using right here on this blog. I trust it, and I trust the company that shipped it to me. I’ve even spoken a few times with the site’s owner, Alderin Ordell.
I think it’s the best investment I’ve ever made, and I fully encourage you to try it. If you’re not sure, there’s a 60-day money-back guarantee and you can send it right back.
I do want people to buy Water Ionizers, and I want them to be used on a daily basis. I’ve seen the benefits, and I want others to know about them as well. I just don’t want people to pay an unreasonable price to shady marketers…
So, check out the alternative – The KYK Genesis Water Ionizer.
**UPDATE** For the 2010 New Year, there is now a special KYK Genesis sale going on at www.WaterForLifeUSA.com! For the next week or so, if you buy a KYK Genesis they’ll take 15% off if you enter the coupon code “wfl15″ (without quotes) at checkout! This is about $300 in savings! So if you’re going to buy, be sure to do it in the next week! You can read more details about the KYK Genesis Sale, or just Get Your Machine Now!
Still think that Enagic™’s Machine Might Be Higher Quality?
Well, let me add one final note. KYK used to produce a machine called the KYK Harmony Ionizer, which is no longer sold because it’s been replaced by the KYK Genesis. However, they did a direct comparison of that older machine with the “Kangen Water™” Ionizer which you can find here – A direct comparison of the two machines. As you can see, they stacked up quite evenly.
Now, I find that comparison to be quite convincing in itself. But when you consider that the New 7-Plate KYK Genesis machine puts that older machine out to pasture, you’ll hopefully realize that you’re going to get the best ionizer on the market for a very reasonable price.
Just do me a favor, and don’t let Enagic™ rip you or your friends off.

After researching for hours I agree strongly that the KYK Genesis is at least as good and probably better than the Kangen for less than 1/2 the price. I don’t like Kangens unscrupulous business tactics. I read the water for life response to enagic report and I believe what they say over what Kangen says. Read “WFL response to enagic report” on the water for life site (www.waterforlife.com). I also went to a Kangen demo and I didn’t like some of the guys on the DVDs. They reminded me very much of low life stock brokers I used to work with.
Interesting. Very very interesting. I would say that just because something is sold via MLM, doesn’t make it a scam. BUT, I’m not interested in joining their MLM and trying to sell Kangen, so I’ll probably follow your advice. You seem to have done your homework. Thanks.
Hi,
Thanks for your research. I also agree with the poster who says that MLM doesn’t equate to scam – it’s one method of marketing that some companies choose – not always bad, but usually it does bring a degree of ‘hoopla’ to a product. I had a feeling that $4k was a bit high when I met a salesperson recently. This guy was really nice, and not at all slimy. But at the end of the day, saving $2k wins out over being nice!
Thank you for sharing the results of your research. We were actually entertaining the thought of purchasing the Kangen Water system, but agree that the price is ridiculous. We had researched a little on our own and found other systems, but honestly after I sitting at a computer 9 hours at work the last thing I want to do is research the net when I get home. This article just confirms our thoughts. Thanks again! It is also nice to hear that your research came out of the fact that you were concerned for your parents. : )
Everything is s ’scam” to people on the internet! That word is used so much as a draw for the concept that “I am right and they are wrong.” Every company has been called a scam on the internet…everyone that is small market or large market, from Amway to Shackley to EcoQuest.
Guess what…you did not prove a lick how this is a “Scam.” All you did was project YOU do not LIKE how they do things!
I seriously doubt YOU are an expert on water.
You do not fool me.
I agree with a couple posters.. MLM doesnt make it a scam.. MLM make a good living for highly moivated sales people. I am looking and find the price a bit high and not wanting to be part of their business. So I like the sounds of this machine thanks for your research and helping me cut the looking process
Thanks for your research I became a Kangen Rep I was put in by my upline with some program they call goodwill or something. Anyway they suggested that I commit to the larger model (wish I hadnt). My promise from my sponsor was that she would help at least start to place people under me, NEVER HAPPENED.. In fact she built wide That would have helped me pay off my machine and pay off the upline who did the goodwill gesture, heck it may have gotten me more excited about working, ya think!
I think the ionized water thing is a great thing however not for 4K! I still have my machine rarely used but would like to sell it to pay back the goodwill person and to help pay other things.. Anyway I will check out the other machine you suggested as well..Good Article, RJ
Thanks for your research!! I agree completely that other, CHEAPER alternatives do exist, however, I have never seen or heard of them. MLM is not a scam, like someone else said, it’s just another method of sales. I would also like to point out that thanks to MLM you pay off the high cost of the machine with the commission of your own sales in about 6 months time.
Thanks so much for the time and effort on the research of kangen water.I defenetly think that kagen water is a ripp off and thank to your information i will no longer buy it i will go for the KYK Genisis. Once again thanks so much for your information i apprecciate so much.
From what I understand about MLM is maybe scam is the the wrong word but how about satuarate. In other words, this sounds to me like you gather friends for a demostration, your sponsor comes over for a ‘teaser’ meeting that hopefully draws in a few interested people. From that a few join and everyone in the upline makes money. The problem is there are just so many people you can show it to if you are not on this program on the ground floor. Pretty soon everyone is going to be expose to it at one point or another and then what? Who do you show to then? I have not seen the machine or tasted the water and don’t even know the effects of it but who has $4000 in this economy to purchase a machine like that when they can’t make mortage or rent payments?
For the record, great article.. Tragic it sounded like a sells pitch for the KYK Genesis at the end though..
Thanks for this information. I just left one of those demonstrations, and I was swept up in my emotions until I read this. That Kangen water is the shit. I just drank another cup and I feel high. Not weed high. Not drunk high. Not shroom high. I’ve had this feeling in church before…If there’s something out there that does the same thing for half the price, then there’s absolutely no reason we should feel Kangen is our only option.
Thanks for doing the research. I have been drinking the Kangem water for sometime now and and thought about buying the machine…but found the machine quite expensive. Thanks for letting us know that there is a less expensive machine on the market.
I want to thank you for your input. I do have to admit the SIMPLY found a cheaper product that does the same thing as Kangen DOES NOT make it a SCAM. C’mon, if that where the case the $120 jeans at Nordstroms would be a SCAM because I could get a cheaper pair at Walmart. It’s obvious the cheaper pair is just good commonsense to purchase rather than the expensive one.
I get so tired of people making the “Scam” accusation simply due to a product that has a middleman. Guess Starbucks is a SCAM too because I cam make a cup of coffee at home much cheaper than $3.50 I think you get the point.
Perhaps we should consider using a term as “A Better Buy” rather than SCAM!!! ; )
Ok, ok I’m very thankful you did some research as we’re looking into purchasing one and I too did not want to throw $4k into the wind.
Respectfully,
MarketDude77
I had a friend of mine give me a DVD of the presentation for Kangen water. I thought that the information was very interesting but I also am wise to MLM marketing. I am in direct sales and when I saw the cost of the machine I took a double take. Now In a little bit of defense for enagic machine I also understand that there can be a huge difference in machine quality and opperation. I do thank you for the information, it looks like you did research but I agree that it sounded like your own personal infomercial for the KYK Genesis.
My stupid aunt who can’t keep a job sells this crap and even buys it herself. She’s wasted so much money on all this bullshit it’s really sad. My mom sometimes is an idiot too and also buys into. Then they complain about money.
Here’s the thing though: when you buy an Engaic Kangen water machine you automatically become a reseller as well. So for every machine you sell, you make money; a commission. And whenever someone you sold to sells a machine you still make commission. Pretty soon you have money coming in and you don’t know where its coming from. I’d say it’s a pretty good deal.
Well I am contemplating buying a machine that reduces the acid in my water but I certainly am not prepared to spend 4K on it so I am glad to hear that there is one that might do the same job!
When I read of the commission set up then I understood where the money goes. Thank You
My experience has been that MLM products just cost more, making everyone in the top tiers rich, and the normal person believing their rhetoric that they too will become wealthy just isn’t as easy as they make it sound. For very outgoing people, MLM’s can make them money, but as a consumer, I would rather buy the old fashioned way & skip the MLM pyramid commissions. Thanks for the word of warning.
What a joke! KYK crap is what it is.You get what you pay for,and if people would do their research they would see that you have not.Its really sad to see but it happens all the time in business, lying to make yourself look better. The only way to succeed is to keep your eyes on your own biz!!!! Shame, shame, shame on you genesis.
If Ed Begley Jr. has one, that’s enough for me.I’m certain he has done a ton of research and would not be scammed into anything. I love his show.
Let me clear the air. Say what you will, but this is probably all you really should know. Go figure!
1. Actual Enagic employees (Office Staff & Executives) can purchase ANY Kangen water machine for $200.00 (Yes! Two Hundred US Dollars) – If that isn’t a testament to ridiculous MARK-UPS, I don’t know what else to tell you.
2. The company THRIVES on what we all know to be as a PYRAMID SCHEME – If the sponsors/dealers/6A’s aren’t out there selling machines … NOBODY get’s paid.
3. There is NO genuine infrastructure to the company. Nothing more than appointed execs (for lack of a better term) all trying to pose as worthy business men. No merited duties or responsibilities. Just a bunch of “Yes-Men” all playing their role to collect a paycheck.
I’d be happy to continue on, but do I really need to say any more? I mean you should see where all of this is already going. Personally, I sensed a lot of this and more from day one of working for Enagic. But I always tend to remain optimistic and hope for the best. However, each day at work simply made it more evident that I needed to get out while I could, rather than stand my ground and try to spread some true & sincere professionalism amidst so much bad practice. Enagic as a whole, is merely unaware of the term DUE DILIGENCE.
DYSFUNCTION/DECEIT + PROFIT/GREED = SCAM
I for one have the Enagic machine and I guess was taken in. I mentioned a Pyramid organization and was shot down, but did not do my research prior to purchasing so have no one else to blame but myself. I did find that chart in the material that was packaged in the box when I received the machine [only too late] as even if you returned the merchandise unopened the cost would have been $600.00. There are benefits to the water so I will just have to say that my water is the same as yours only a bit more expensive.
Thank you SOOO MUCH. I don’t think the issue is about MLM (although, I don’t know why we would give money to a bunch of people who are standing in line with their hands out – only to get the product that we want. MLM insults our intelligence because it assumes that people cannot figure out things like other products at less than the price).
I am THRILLED you did this page. I most definitely check things out before jumping in. I love the product idea, I believe it works and I am more than thrilled to pay half price for a machine that does the same thing. You just saved me and countless others of even considering to pay $4,000. for a machine!
THANK YOU
Buyer Beware, before any purchase is made, research is required, I have a MLM Enagic sales person in my office, thanks to this sales person I found out of the benifits of ionized water but this sales person also lies about the facts. anyone that shells out $3980 for a water ionizer, hasn’t fairly checked out the competition, overall I admire people that can sell overpriced products while at the same time find myself repulsed by people that streatch the truth to make a buck. I am shopping for a water ionizer but won’t pay 3980
